Lush and bare-bones...
(Review of Beautiful Addiction)
Artvoice (Buffalo, NY)
"People like to think that singer-songwriters are a dime-a-dozen but really good ones are a lot rarer than that. Case in point: singer-songwriter Steve Roth. The title track from Roth's disc, Beautiful Addiction, could apply both to the musician's ability to turn a tune and for the listener's desire to revisit the songs after only a quick listen. The recording is alternately lush and bare-bones and exhibits Roth's penchant for writing melancholic melodies and joyously upbeat anthems."

Review of Beautiful Addiction
The Buffalo News
"...A sterling blend of folk tradition, pop smarts and modern rock flourishes..."

Review of Beautiful Addiction
Liquid Theory Television (MTV Video Music Awards, etc.)
"Steve Roth is very talented and the quality of his CD is high, up to par for what he needs to shop himself around..."

Best of 2004
Night-Life Magazine
"Steve Roth - Beautiful Addiction - Another favorite of mine from 2004. Roth, along with Armand John Petri, producing one of the most dynamic CD's of the year. Introspective, insightful and great guitar playing to boot shows why Roth is a winner at this year's Buffalo Music Awards."

AM radio
WBEN (Tom Bauerle)
Steve Roth is a Buffalo, NY singer/songwriter whose songs I regularly feature on my top-rated morning talk show. His passion for music is evident and a favorite among listeners. I believe that "Beautiful Addiction" has the necessary elements to appeal to a broader, national audience."

FM radio
WGRF 96.9
"Steve Roth is an excellent local talent. He has a unique sound and a great stage presence. It was my pleasure to get Steve played on our station..."

Morning television
WGRZ Channel 2 (NBC affliate)
"Steve Roth's Beautiful Addiction is a must-have in my music collection. It goes from up-beat melody to soulful introspect. This collection runs the gambit of human emotion; from loss and resilience to sheer joy of life. It's depth and range are something seldom heard from even the most experienced singer/songwriter..."

John K.: reviewer
Having heard Steve Roth perform his wonderful songs several times, I found it hard to believe that they could be captured properly in a recording. The result surpassed my high expectations. Steve is a talented writer and performer, his songs have a beauty that few can capture. In an earlier time Steve would be looked upon as a future "star", unfortunately we live in the age of Justin and Britney. But that's another diatribe. Allow me to say that you should have this CD, you will enjoy it and will listen to it repeatedly.
